Tárgy: HP-UX 11i Roadmap Change - Public

Dear External distribution lists,

I have removed the attachements (2 totaling 1.9M)if you need the files
please send me mail. If I get enough requests I will send the file, I
just do not know how much interest there is, given that these are VMS
interest lists.

Warm regards.
Sue

Subject: HP-UX 11i Roadmap Change

HP announced this morning a modification to the HP-UX 11i roadmap to
better integrate clustering and file system capabilities into the
Virtual Server Environment (VSE) and to accelerate the delivery of these
capabilities with 11iV2 in 2005 rather than with 11iV3 in 2006.

To achieve these customer-focused goals, HP as decided to expand its
relationship with VERITAS. We will integrate HP Serviceguard with the
VERITAS Storage Foundation Cluster File System rather than with the
previously planned TruCluster CFS technology. We will also provide a
streamlined file system strategy with the current, widely
deployed HP-UX 11i default file system, Online JFS (the VERITAS File
System, VxFS), rather than provide a dual file system strategy that
included AdvFS (Advanced File System).

For existing HP-UX customers and Independent Software Providers, this
direction will preserve file system and clustering continuity. Tru64
UNIX customers transitioning to HP-UX 11i will get similar system
functionality with this new direction. To assist HP-UX and Tru64 UNIX
customers with a smooth evolution to these new technologies, we will
continue to strengthen the HP 9000 Evolution and Alpha Retain Trust
programs with consulting, training, and tools, for example, to address
these technology changes.

This new direction will enable our customers over the long term to
realize a broader set of core benefits, such as integrating
virtualization solutions sooner, inherent multi-OS capability, and
simplified single-and multi-cluster management with a single tool, than
they otherwise would have had with the previously planned
roadmap.

There will be follow-up webcasts, concalls and other communication
vehicles put in place to provide more detailed information and ways to
have interactive discussions with technical consultants to address
questions and concerns. Attached are 2 whitepapers that will provide
more details and pointers to on-line sources of more information.
