Westborough, Massachusetts, USA 13 January 2004--At the firm's
Enterprise Storage and Servers Industry Analyst Summit held here
west of
Boston, HP--consistent with our expectations--today demonstrated an
Itanium-based HP Integrity Superdome server running OpenVMS V8.1,
HP-UX,
Red Hat Linux, and Windows in four separate hard partitions, each
consisting of a 4-CPU cell.

As expected, the OpenVMS partition was clustered with a standalone
OpenVMS Alpha XP1000 workstation, enabling the demonstration to
show not
only four enterprise OSes running in hard partitions on a single
Superdome system, but to incorporate a mixed-architecture Alpha and
IPF
VMScluster. This represents the first time SKHPC has ever seen a single
enterprise system--and an Itanium system at that--run four separate
OSes
in four hard partitions. The addition of an Alpha workstation to
demonstrate mixed architecture VMSclustering capabilities between IPF
and Alpha systems was the icing on the cake in this hardware tour de
force.
