use

Dear Distribution lists,

The following is an article written by OpenVMS Ambassador Jorge
Cienfuegos in Chile and translated into English by Juan Astorga-
Vergara,
OpenVMS Engineering. Gentlemen, thank you very much, I apreciate
your
work and the time you took to do this.

Warm Regards,
Sue

There is OpenVMS for a long while.

The increasing necessities of the market for critical mission --high
availability -- servers and operating systems has done that OpenVMS
consolidates in the market as the standard platform for critical mission
and clustering, with up to 96 nodes sharing a single SSI (Single System
Image).

OpenVMS turns 25 years, a history based on two processors platforms
(the
VAX and Alpha), and that today is prepared to integrate Itanium
starting
on 2004. This positions it as the most robust system on the market,
since it facilitates the transition between architectures without losing
the previous investment in applications and other resources. In
addition, OpenVMS can coexist with the same version of the operating
system for different architectures, allowing transparent migrations in
the applications.

The roadmap of OpenVMS is defined and the version available for
production will be OpenVMS V8.2, at the moment in stage of tests and
certification. It will take advantage of all the Itanium features, which
process up to 6 instructions per machine cycle and the well known
clustering capacity characteristic of OpenVMSCluster.
