We will be introducing a new OpenVMS Security class on March 7th at
our Denver facility. This class is a result of many requests from our
customer base. This class can be delivered "internationally" as well.
Europe and Asia would not be an issue. I have included the web site
for the course description. Please feel free to share this with anyone
you deem appropriate.

Subject: Announcing TDMS for OpenVMS Alpha V7.3-2 and I64 8.2
Hello Field Test sites,
We have yet another product available for use with OpenVMS Alpha
and I64 - it's TDMS (Terminal Data Management System). The following
message comes from Bob Sampson, who's ported TDMS to the Integrity
server platform. Kits for use on Alpha 7.3-2 and
I64 8.2 are available via ftp (see below for file locations). Note that
Oracle Rdb and CDD are prerequisite products.
Three TDMS documents are included in this mail. However, 3 others are
available separately (the Installation Guide in HTML format,
the Release Notes, and the SPD in .PostScript format), so please feel
free to contact me via this Ops account if you need/want those
documents.
Please use the Topaz External Field Test folder in PTR to report any
problems you encounter with the software.
If you have questions/comments about the TDMS software or
documentation, please feel free to contact Bob Sampson.
Thanks,
- Sue
TDMS (Terminal Data Management System) Software for OpenVMS I64
(a.k.a. I64 TDMS) is now available for evaluation and field test on
Integrity servers running OpenVMS 8.2. Please follow these steps to
install the ported TDMS software:
1) Obtain the appropriate Rdb and CDD kits directly from Oracle:
For OpenVMS I64 E8.2: Register for the Oracle Rdb Beta Test Program
at http://otnbeta.oracle.com/Rdb/index.htm .
Once accepted, you can download the rdbadk.zip and cddadk.zip (7.2
beta) kits.
For OpenVMS Alpha E8.2: Unfortunately, no Oracle Rdb and CDD kits
are available at present for Alpha 8.2 field test. Oracle plans to provide
rebuilt kits for the OpenVMS Alpha V8.2 production release (~Dec.
2004). Until then,
Alpha TDMS should be evaluated on a released, current, and supported
platform, such as OpenVMS Alpha V7.3-2,
Oracle Rdb V7.1x, and CDD V7.0x.
2) Install and start Oracle Rdb.
3) Install and start Oracle CDD Repository.
4) Register and load the TDMS field test license key onto your OpenVMS
system, by executing the DCL command procedure
appropriate to your platform:
For OpenVMS I64 E8.2 For
OpenVMS Alpha V7.3-2:
5) Read the Installation Guide:
Additionally, the Installation Guide (in HTML format), the
Release Notes, and the SPD (in .PS format) are available;
please let me know if you are interested in them.
6) Using ftp, pull the TDMS kit(s) from the following locations to your
current default directory. We recommend that
you install the development (DEV) kit, rather than the evaluation
(EVA) kit. The run-time only (RTO) kit is provided
for those who wish to evaluate TDMS without having to obtain and
install Oracle software. Note that you must retrieve
each kit individually using the complete link given here:

7) Next, expand the kit by running the self-expanding Info-ZIP archive
file.
8) Install the resulting PCSI kit, using the DCL command: PRODUCT
INSTALL TDMS_DEV.
9) Choose the installation options to re-link all provided images. This is
recommended, although it might not be necessary.
Please enter any problem reports with this software in the Topaz
External Field Test PTR folder.

release of TDMS software, please visit the TDMS web pages at:

Jim.Rallis at hp.com , or ask your HP Sales
Representative to contact him. I64 TDMS V8.2 should be available by
January 2005. Alpha TDMS V1.9C (2003-12-01) is
available now.
