IT'S NOW EASIER FOR OpenVMS USERS TO INSTALL SYNERGY/DE
LICENSE PAKs
Now when you request Synergy/DE license PAKs for OpenVMS, you will
receive them as an email attachment from Synergex. You can save this
attachment as a command file on your OpenVMS (Alpha or Itanium)
system;
and then, instead of manually typing in the license information, you can
simply run the command file to install your Synergy/DE license PAKs.
For more information about this new process, contact your Synergy/DE
Account Manager.

*Maximise the support effort around key data processing peak system
loads/runs'

The following section outlines the Senior VMS system manager role
applying to the VMS Critical systems.
*The service will be provided during normal business hours from 08:00 -
16:30 Monday to Friday inclusive.
*The System Manager will be available to participate in planned
activities and perform remedial support outside of normal office hours.
The out of hour's works will be approved in advance and verified by
Vodafone VMS Operations.
*Senior VMS system manager dedicated full-time to VMS.
*Responsible for escalation for hardware support issues to the HP
Mission Critical team on-site.
*Change impact analysis (non project based).
*Pro-active Problem Avoidance.
*Contingency Planning.
*Capacity Planning.
*The Senior VMS system manager will resolve issues in conjunction
with
Vodafone VMS Operations teams on the VMS Environment.
*The Senior VMS system manager will advise HP Mission Critical
Support
Teams of relevant OpenVMS patches for the VMS Environment and to
manage
the installation of these patches on the various VMS systems.
*The Senior VMS system manager will work with Mission Critical
Support
Teams to identify required new versions and updates to existing
OpenVMS
Layered Products on the VMS Environment and to manage the
installation
of these updates on the various VMS systems.
*The Senior VMS system manager will also engage with relevant teams
to
manage the installation of any required new Layered Products on the
VMS
Environment. All change activity will be subject to Vodafone's change
management procedures.
*The Senior VMS system manager will work with relevant HP and
Vodafone
teams to manage the installation of any required Application
management
tools on the VMS Environment.
*The Senior VMS system manager will monitor levels of network traffic
to/from VMS Systems and highlight areas of concern to the relevant
responsible teams.
*The Senior VMS system manager will review OpenVMS Security Tools
and
Audit trails to help Vodafone identify potential security risks.
*The Senior VMS system manager will provide 24x7 on-call support
during
critical Data Processing runs on the VMS Platforms. He will also
provide on-site support at Vodafone CDC when required during
unplanned
critical outages and planned outages and shutdowns.
*The Senior VMS system manager will use the appropriate OpenVMS
tools
to monitor VMS systems performance and highlight areas of concern to
HP
Mission Critical team and to Vodafone VMS Operations teams He will
manage the OpenVMS Volume Shadowing implementation on the
relevant VMS
Platforms and to maximize the redundancy features of the product. He
will also manage and monitor the OpenVMS Volume Shadowing
operations to
minimize any performance impact to the VMS Environment.
