Virtualization: And not just server virtualization, which is approaching a decade in production on proprietary (OPenVMS and i5/OS) platforms as well as on Unix boxes and which is maturing rapidly on X64 iron, but on storage arrays and client computers. Virtual desktops hosted back in the data center and front-ended by thin clients save money on energy, storage, and administration. Still, Gartner says that by 2010, fewer than 40 percent of corporate users where a virtual PC is appropriate will be using them. People like their PCs and laptops as much as companies like their servers. ----------------------http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/attunity-delivers-new-oracle-teradata/story.aspx?guid=%7B151EE55B-549B-44EC-8A02-578AC2F6C4BD%7D&dist=hppr - Attunity Delivers New Oracle and Teradata Connectors for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - Connectors Enable High-Speed Data Transfer Integrated With SQL Server 2008 Integration Services â026. Today, InterSystems introduced DeepSee, a business intelligence product for Linux, Mac OS X, OpenVMS, Unix and Windows that integrates with C++, Java and .NET applications,-----------------http://www.sdtimes.com/ECUBE_BRINGS_ECLIPSE_TO_OPENVMS_SYSTEMS/About_DESKTOPMANAGEMENT_and_ECLIPSE_and_JAVA_and_ECUBE/32973 eCube brings Eclipse to OpenVMS systems - â026.. NXTware Suite and NXTware Server are client and server versions of Eclipse, respectively. Developers tasked with updating an old Java application running in OpenVMS can load the Suite on their Linux or Windows desktop, then connect to a single instance of the IDE that runs on the server. This server-side Eclipse is installed under a single username and password, but can be accessed by anyone on the network who has been given permission. Thus, when a new developer is tasked with OpenVMS chores, they won't need a separate login and password to access the system. Barnes said that this has already saved a test customer a great deal of time.

â01CThe real benefit is they now can have developers in Java who don't have a background in VMS be productive in that environment," said Barnes. "They can unify their IDEs across platforms."
