Recent Releases: Oracle 11.2.0.4 Patch Set Updates (DB PSU) 11.2.0.4.170418DBPSU PSU 11.2.0.4.161018 (*) was released in April, 2017. This is the 7th PSU we have released since shipping 11.2.0.4 on OpenVMS July, 2015. PSU's are cumulative. Newer ones supersede older ones. In addition to security enhancements, new fixes were made in the areas of Advanced Queuing, Enterprise Manager, Oracle Multimedia, SQL*Plus and XML Database. To download the PSU from My Oracle Support (MOS, https://support.oracle.com) search for patch id 24732075 (*) As of November 2015, the version numbering for new Patch Set Updates, and Security Patch Updates for Oracle Database has a new format. This new format replaces the numeric 5th digit of the bundle version with a release date in the form YYMMDD: Oracle Rdb 7.3.2.1 Oracle Rdb 7.3.2.1 shipped in March, 2017. This release includes new product features as well as fixes for a variety of problems. More specifically, problems fixed include corrections for wrong results, poor performance, access violations, hangs, RMU/CONVERT, SQL errors, statistics collection and after image journaling to name a few. The new features include: * Certification on OpenVMS 8.4−2 from VMS Software Inc. and Integrity i4 systems from HPE * Support for an RMU/SHOW AFTER_JOURNAL [NO]CHECKPOINT Qualifier * Remote Engine Error Logging * MEDIAN Aggregate Function added to SQL * New RMU/BACKUP/AFTER_JOURNAL [NO]SPACE_CHECK Qualifier * New Options to SET SQLDA Statement * New RMU Set Statistics Command * Multi−Aggregate Index Optimization * Support for the Old DPB Format when using ALTER DATABASE * LogMiner State Now in AIJ Options File * New RDM$LOGMINER_STATE Symbol * New /[NO]MBX_ASYNCH Qualifier for RMU/UNLOAD/AFTER * New /PAGE_NUMBER Qualifier for RMU/DUMP and RMU/DUMP/BACKUP * New Information Table RDB$SESSION_PRIVILEGES A full description of all the enhancements made in this release and the problems fixed can be found in the release notes. We are also now in the process of incorporating details on these new features into the SQL Reference and RMU Reference manuals. You can download the kit from My Oracle Support under patch numbers 25682708 for the Itanium kit and 25682686 for the Alpha kit. Oracle Rdb 7.3.2.0 Update 4 Also in March, a special image kit for Oracle Rdb Release 7.3.2.0, Update 4, was made available on My Oracle Support under the patch set numbers 25800744 (Itanium) and 25800717 (Alpha). This Update 4 kit fixed a problem where the distribution of List of Byte Varying (Blob) data across partitioned storage areas was incorrectly favoring the first storage area. More specifically, the FILL RANDOMLY clause of the LIST storage map would not distribute LIST OF BYTE VARYING columns uniformly. Full details along with the details on other problems fixed in this kit from the prior three 7.3.2.0 update kits are shown in the release notes. Oracle SQL/Services and OCI Services for Oracle Rdb Release 7.3.2.3 Oracle SQL/Services and OCI Services for Oracle Rdb release 7.3.2.3 was shipped in March. In this version, enhancements were made to the SQL Services Client Kit and to OCI Services. Bug fixes were also made for OCI Services. In the SQL/Services Client Kit, the SQLSRV$DYNAMIC sample application was enhanced to prompt users to specify an alternative port number when TCP/IP is specified as the network transport. A value of 0 (the default) specifies that the default SQL/Services dispatcher port of 118 will be used. Otherwise, the value specifies the alternate port number to be used. In OCI Services, two new features were added: * A new information table has been added to Oracle Rdb. RDB$SESSION_PRIVILEGES holds privilege information for the current user’s session and can be added by a database administrator by executing the INFO_TABLES.SQL script as described in the Oracle Rdb documentation. Once created in the database OCI Services will add a new data dictionary table SESSION_PRIVS that references this new table. A query on the SESSION_PRIVS table from an Oracle OCI application, such as SQL Developer, now returns the user’s current set of privileges.Oracle Rdb now more closely emulates the Oracle Database when naming computed columns. Thanks to a new SET SQLDA command in Rdb 7.3.2.1, Rdb can now specify to OCI Services the name of the column mapped as closely as possible to the names generated by the Oracle Database. A number of OCI Services bug fixes were also made in this kit. These included problems with incorrect values sometimes stored in Date columns, an improper update across a dblink, improper execution of certain Select statements, wrong value insertions and a timestamp format issue. The Oracle SQL/Services and OCI Services for Oracle Rdb kit is available on My Oracle Support under patch numbers 25690890 for OpenVMS Itanium and 25690878 for OpenVMS Alpha. The 7.3.2.3 Oracle SQL/Services Client APIs kits are available on MyOracleSupport as patchset numbers 25690909 (HP-UX 64-bit), 25690917 (Linux 32-bit), 25690927 (Linux 64-bit), 25690929 (Microsoft Windows 32-bit) and 25690939 (Microsoft Windows 64-bit). Details on all the above kits are available in their corresponding release notes. Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb 3.3.2.5 The Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb 3.3.2.5 was released in March. This is a maintenance release that fixes invalid results returned under certain circumstances: * Memory allocation failures and invalid results returned if API call includes the "REMARKS" column * Incorrect value returned for SQLGetInfo(SQL_FORWARD_ONLY_CURSOR_ATTRIBUTES2) * SQLGetDiagField (SQL_DIAG_CURSOR_ROW_COUNT) now returns SQL_SUCCESS with a value of -1 instead of SQLError * SQLGetDiagField no longer returns -100 on record 0 * SQLGetDiagField now returns a 64 bit result as needed for SQL_DIAG_CURSOR_ROW_COUNT and SQL_DIAG_ROW_COUNT The Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb 3.3.2.5 kit can be downloaded from My Oracle Support: Patch 25829812 (32-bit) and Patch 25829827 (64-bit). Oracle JDBC for Rdb Release 7.3.4.2 - In Beta Test This version of Oracle JDBC for Rdb was developed to work with Java 8 which is now available for production use from HPE (see https://www.hpe.com/global/java/download/ivms/1.8.0/jdk8.0_down.html ). We are in the later stages of beta testing now. If you are interested in testing Oracle JDBC for Rdb Release 7.3.4.2 with Java 8 please contact us at infordb_us at oracle.com. Oracle Rdb Connectivity Manager (ORCM) 7.3.2 – In Beta Test Oracle Rdb Connectivity Manager (ORCM) is a graphical user interface (GUI) that provides a server management utility from any platform where Java is available, to manage SQL/Services and JDBC servers running on OpenVMS server systems. This latest version of the ORCM brings a suite of new features, including: * a new RMU Menu category * the ability to display RMU Statistics from the tool * a fast and easy way to identify differences between database schemas * external tool enhancements If you are interested in testing these new capabilities please contact us at infordb_us at oracle.com.
