configured Oracle 10gR2 RAC on a 2-node OpenVMS Integrity Server cluster
for a large financial institution in EMEA. The hardware configuration
for this proof-of-concept was provided by PDV-SYSTEME ....

2.7 The National Computer Museum at Bletchley Park in the UK run their
web accessible retro operating systems on an OpenVMS host under
the Hobbyist programme.
SIMH is used to simulate hardware for running several early Digital
operating systems, such as OS8, RT11 and RSTS.
It was important for the museum to able to provide a secure and
resilient system for computer historians and scientists - the system
manager at the museum, Kevin Murrell, said he wouldn't consider putting
a system on the web, and offering open logins, unless he was
sure both the server and their internal business systems were absolutely
secure.
The system runs on an Alpha Server 800. The museum has several earlier
machines running VMS include a VAX 750 and a MicroVAX 3.
The retro O/S emulation machine can be accessed via
http://retrobeep.no-ip.org and is available 24/7.

3.0 Partners:
Press Release

3.1 TDi Announces Certification and Support for HP OpenVMS Integrity
Server Blade Management in the BladeSystem c-Class Enclosure

PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TECSys Development, Inc. (TDi), the
leading provider of enterprise event monitoring and infrastructure
management solutions, today announced that ConsoleWorks(r) 3.4 has been
certified to secure and manage OpenVMS Integrity Blade MP or ILO-2
consoles in HP BladeSystem c-Class.

"ConsoleWorks has always worked well in blade and virtual environments,
and with HP announcing support for the OpenVMS operating system running
on HP Integrity BL860c server blades in its BladeSystem c-Class - TDi
went the extra mile to ensure best-of-breed console integration and
management. We extended our product integration from just HP OpenView to
the total HP Systems Insight Manager, giving us the most comprehensive
integration in the industry," said Darel Stokes, Vice President of
Engineering, TDi.

OpenVMS is a multi-user, multiprocessing virtual memory-based operating
system designed for time sharing, batch processing, real-time and
transaction processing. OpenVMS offers high system availability through
clustering - distributing the system over multiple physical machines.
This protects the system against natural disasters that may disable
individual data-processing facilities.

TDi's ConsoleWorks provides an integrated secure management solution for
all HP Alpha, Integrity and BladeSystem environments running Windows,
Linux, HP-UX and OpenVMS. ConsoleWorks also secures and logs all access
to any of its managed consoles. Besides managing each of these
environments, it can also be deployed in any of them.

"HP is committed to providing customers with the tools to best manage
their IT infrastructures across all form factors and operating
environments," said Mary Jane Vasquez, OpenVMS Product Planning and
Marketing Manager at HP. "With the support of OpenVMS on Integrity
server blades, our customers now have a single solution to manage all
consoles in the enclosure and integrate with other HP management
frameworks like OpenView and Systems Insight Manager."

3.5 NEMONIX Engineering Inc. today announced a series of WIDE SCSI Disk
Drives replacements to their line of narrow NXRZ SCSI disk drives. These
are a welcome addition to the plug and play replacements for the Digital
Storage Works(tm) RZ series drives already available and round out the
product offering. The new drives are available in 18, 36, and 72/3 GB
capacities. Available in both 10K and 15K RPM types, they are designed
to put the reliability and maintainability back into your VAX and
AlphaServer storage subsystem. They replace the RZ1, series of wide SCSI
drives from Digital Equipment Corp. Also available are RZ26, 28, 29 and
an NXRZ29E replacement that expands the capacity of the RZ29 to 7.9GB
which is just under the 8GB limit of VMS 6.1 and below. In addition to
increased capacity and reliability, and reduced cooling requirements,
these drives deliver increased data transfer and seek performance across
the board. They come either as bare bones for direct mounting, or in SBB
containers for complete plug and play replacements in BA35 expander
boxes. All drives come with a 3 year warranty.
