3.0 Great News3.1 - From John S - Today we received the formal report validating the HP rx3600 running OpenVMS for US Military Standard 704D. Mil-Std 704D tests systems for autoranging power compliance up to sustained 400Hz operation. 115volt 400Hz power is used aboard many mobile platforms in the military - aircraft, ships , submarines, tanks, etc. This is the first and only Industry-Standard, completely Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) system that I am aware of which has ever received this validation for military missions. 3.3 - HP PerfDat V4.0 released.
HP PerfDat has reached another milestone in its development, by introducing the HP PERFDAT EVA extension. This new subsystem collects performance data from HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Arrays (EVA), and stores the data in the HP PERFDAT performance database.
Some of the new features are:
o Up to 64 EVA arrays can be monitored in parallel o Easy to configure o Friendly Name Resolution o Automatic configuration change detection o Profile controlled o Sample interval is freely definable (minimum = 5 sec.) o Each metric can be enabled/disabled independently o Fully integrated into the HP PERFDAT environment o Automatic trend reports o Data management and housekeeping o Online alerting o All statistical methods (sorting, correlation and deviation analysis etc.) provided by the DQL interface can be applied to data collected by the EVA extension

This version has been thoroughly tested with a range of HP StorageWorks Enterprise Arrays and HSV controllers at a number of customer sites. However as it is the initial version of this new feature we would ask any existing or new user to try this new feature in his/her test environment and report his/her findings.
You can still install HP PerfDat V4.0 in your Production environment to replace a prior version if you do not initially plan to use the HP PERFDAT EVA extension.
This caveat is purely a safety measure up to such time that we have collected enough feedback from the installed base to announce the production release for this feature.
Other new features:
The SNMP extension for HP PERFDAT V4.0 now provides full support to collect performance data from Solaris and Linux systems out of the box.

It is always a pleasure to be challenged by our customers and Vladimir Bacic at DPE in Italy has certainly done that. DPE is using CBL to move DIBOL applications from VAX to Alpha and Integrity processors. In the process, he has pushed us to further improve CBL. As a result, we are releasing V4.0 of CBL, the DIBOL to C Translator. This release contains several bug fixes and a substantial Translator performance improvement.
