1. OpenVMS Engineering update :
a. TUDs in North America is announced. We will do one in Canada, Toronto on 7-8th May and another in USA, Dallas on the 10-11th May . We are very excited to conduct TUDs in this region and meet our OpenVMS customers. Do block your calendar and join us. The registration details will be sent to you in a weeks’ time.
b. SCSI support on rx2880 i2 is now available with OpenVMS V8.4
HP Integrity SC11Xe PCIe SCSI HBA (part no AT134A) is now supported on HP Integrity on rx2800 i2 servers. More details are available in the link below. http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12566_na/12566_na.pdf
However OpenVMS supports - Tape support only. No Disk, Boot or Dump support, Multi Initiator/Shared SCSI support
c. New Support for SYSTEM-V Shared Memory Functionality has been added in VMS84A_ACRTL-V0100 kit and planed to be release in first week of April.
OpenVMS CRTL is enhanced to support the SYSTEM-V Shared Memory functionality. This new functionality will be
useful for the customers porting the applications from Unix/Linux to OpenVMS.
The following four new API's are being introduced.
1. shmat : The shmat function attaches the shared memory segment associated with the shared memory identifier specified by shmid to the address space of the calling process.
2. shmctl: The shmctl() API function provides a variety of shared memory control operations as specified by the cmd argument.
3. shmdt: The shmdt() API function detaches the shared memory segment located at the address specified by shmaddr from the address space of the calling process.
4. shmget: The shmget() API function returns the shared memory identifier associated with the key.

GNAT Pro 7.0.1 Ada Development Environment Available on OpenVMS Platforms
The latest release of AdaCore's Ada Development Environment for OpenVMS, GNAT Pro 7.0.1, is now available for HP's AlphaServer and Integrity server (I64) platforms. GNAT Pro supports OpenVMS 8.3 on both platforms, and also OpenVMS 8.4 on I64. The product implements all versions of the Ada language -- Ada 83, Ada 95, and Ada 2005 -- as well as the upcoming Ada 2012 standard.
GNAT Pro comprises a full native Ada development environment with a comprehensive toolset, Ada-oriented debugging (through gdb on Alpha and OpenVMS Debug on I64), and an extensive set of libraries and bindings.
GNAT Pro has an OpenVMS "look and feel" and is highly compatible with HP Ada (an Ada 83 compiler on Alpha).
A major enhancement in GNAT Pro 7.0.1 is complete support for Ada 2012.
This new version of the language provides contract-based programming -- the ability to associate Boolean conditions (dynamic "contracts") with declared program entities -- as well as a number of other useful features.

c. Vere Technologies:
The new version of vtVAX can emulate any of the following VAX processors:
VAXserver: 3600, 3900
VAX: 4000-100, 4000-105A, 4000-200
MicroVAX: II, 3100-90, 3100-95, 3600, 3900
VAXstation: II, 3600, 3900
Using vtVAX, any mix of virtual VAX systems may run simultaneously on a single HP PC host, provided there are sufficient cores and memory for the combined instances.
Each instance of virtual VAX requires the following dedicated hardware resources:
A minimum of two CPU cores;
Memory in excess of the amount configured for the virtual VAX system;
One network interface for each network adapter configured on the virtual VAX system;
All physical disks, tapes, and serial ports configured on the virtual VAX system.
d. Attunity
Wanted to share with you our recent announcement. This week we released a PR announcing a $1.0 million license agreement with one of North America’s largest communications and media providers who selected our Attunity Stream CDC solution to modernize its mission-critical cabling business system running on OpenVMS.
Attunity Stream will assist the customer in supporting new cable services, improving customer service, and enabling better decision support, as well as enable them to accommodate recent growth as a result of adding video-on-demand service and a new customer interface for online customer account management. By using Attunity Stream, the Customer is now able to off-load reporting from its proprietary OpenVMS system, the backbone of its cable TV enterprise, and allow business user access to near real-time business intelligence (BI).
